Lament of Kyoto Promo Art

This is a project that I have had the pleasure of working on during my time at Any% Studios. Lament of Kyoto is a reverse bullet hell game set in modern day Japan, where you play as one of a variety of characters killing yokai and exploring haunted realms. For this project I was responsible for all environment art pictured here, as well as additional environment art not yet publicly released. As lead artist I have managed the art direction of the game from developing initial concept art, to prototyping and on to defining specific criteria and expectations for the artwork in order to achieve a cohesive game. I have worked closely with all members of our team to ensure that we maintain a consistent vision for the aesthetic of the game from environment, to characters, to particles. I spent most of my time during this project developing the environments, creating shaders, and implementing art into Unity. This project has been a great experience for honing my skills in a rapid development environment with frequently changing goalposts and timelines. One of my favorite parts of this project was the process of defining and polishing our art style, and it is exciting to see it coming to life. While the game is still in a demo state, I can't wait to see it hit the market as a full fledged game.
